Mold is the single greatest
problem in Indoor Air Quality.
Sick Building Syndrome and Building
Related Disease are most often due to mold. Water
intrusion, coupled with an elevated temperature and a
food source create the environment for molds to propagate
rapidly. Floods, sewer back-ups, or the presence
of bird droppings, domestic or wild animal wastes increase
the likelihood that bacteria is involved.
We are familiar with the
health effects from molds
such as Stachybotrys, Actinomycetes, Aspergillus,
Cladosporium, Penicillium, Alternaria, and many more.

FULL RANGE OF CAPABILITIES
To identify
and correct mold related problems
Our services
include:
1.
Phase 1 – Initial Investigation – usually 1 day or less
- Thorough inspection for visible mold, water infusion
or hidden problems in walls, ceiling or ductwork – to
prevent
or control mold you must locate it and
conditions promoting its growth.
- Testing for mold,
bacteria, volatile organic compounds, temperature, relative
humidity, moisture in wood or other surfaces.
- Recommending Actions
for Clean-up. Control measures for water infusion or
condensation
and also appropriate methods to clean-up or
remediate mold infested buildings.
2. Phase II
- In depth investigation (if necessary) when the Phase
I does not identify the exact problem or a more extensive
situation is identified, a Phase II involves through
HVAC System inspection, specification of mold or bacteria,
investigation of other areas or property, mycotoxins,
endotoxins, other non-microbiological factors that may
be affecting occupant health.
3. Remediation: Removal
of water damaged surfaces, clean-up of mold infested materials,
control of mold re-growth, elimination of water infusion
or condensation, cleaning of ductwork or ceiling plenums.
We have
affiliates who perform mold remediation
or we can develop specifications
for mold remediation, supervise mold contractors, and perform post-mold remediation inspections and sampling.

professional with over 25 years of experience in identifying
and correcting biological and chemical problems.
SPECIAL RESOURCES:
- Texas requires all mold investigations be done by
a Texas Certified Mold Consultant. We have a Texas Certified
Mold Consultant in our Dallas, TX. office.
OUR SERVICES INCLUDE:
- Detailed
inspections of a building, including both occupied and
unoccupied spaces. This includes HVAC systems,
intake registers, return air plenums, basements, roofs,
attics, crawl spaces, building drainage, sump systems,
window wells, wall interiors, and false floors.
- Testing
of the air for microorganisms to identify mold or bacteria,
and quantify them with comparison to outdoors and reference
levels.
- Sampling
of surfaces using wipe tests, vacuum samples, bulk materials,
or air tests in closed walls/floors/ceilings.
- All
samples are analyzed by nationally accredited microbiological
laboratories using such methods as incubation, culturing,
microscopic examination, GC/MS, and PCR (Polymerase
Chain Reaction).
- Identify
the microorganisms and compare to symptoms of building
occupants.
- Recommend corrective actions
which may include:
- Cleaning
- Fungicide
or biocide
- Eliminate
incubation conditions
- Removal
of contaminated materials
- Air
filtration
- New
building systems
- Evacuation
- Remediation
contractor
- Develop
a complete and detailed report of findings, conclusions,
and recommendations.
- Perform
remediation or supervise qualified contractor while
performing remediation.
If you have a building or building
spaces, where there is evidence of water damage, mold
growth, or illness by the occupants, contact Dr. Henry
P. Shotwell, or Robert E. Sheriff, CIH, CSP, CEO through
