Indoor Air Quality Experts with ability to investigate, test and correct IAQ Problems such as mold, bacteria, chemicals, allergens, asbestos, lead and Building Related Disease or Sick Building Syndrome. If employees or building occupants are complaining of poor air quality or increased illnesses as colds, flu, asthma, weakness, burning eyes, itching skin, rashes, sore throats, allergies, lethargy, or headaches, then there is a possibility this could be related to the building.

We can inspect buildings and HVAC systems for evidence of mold or bacteria that may be adversely affecting building occupants. Our services include air quality testing for mold and bacteria, including mycotoxins and endotoxins, thorough building inspections including air handlers, filters, ductwork, crawl spaces, attics, rooftops, air intakes, and exhausts. We can also identify molds and bacteria quantities. Our objective is to identify the problem and give specific actions needed to correct the situation. In many cases, we can correct the problem with the use of our remediation subcontractor, especially in the case of mold and bacteria contamination.

Our primary service areas are: New Jersey (NJ), New York City (NYC), New York (NY), Pennsylvania (PA), Connecticut (CT), Wisconsin (WI), Maryland (MD), Michigan (MI), Virginia (VA), Illinois (IL), Indiana (IN), Georgia (GA), Alabama (AL) and North Carolina (NC), South Carolina (SC), Tennessee (TN), Florida (FL), Texas (TX), Louisiana (LA), Oklahoma (OK) and Arkansas (AR). In addition to these primary states, we can provide our services anywhere in the United States, understanding that there may be additional travel expenses, and some premium for distant services.

If Atlantic has the opportunity to be of service to you in preventing Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) problems such as, Sick Building Syndrome, Molds, Bacteria, Chemicals, or poor air quality, we would use a step-by-step approach:

PHASE I - THE INITIAL SURVEY
A 1-day investigation of the indoor environment and may including the following actions, depending on the situation:

  1. Preliminary information gathering & fact finding before the on-site visit to obtain information on the building, its systems, occupants, activities, complaints (if any) and illnesses (if any).
  2. An investigation of general environmental conditions which could influence the Indoor Air Quality in the areas of study. An inspection also will be made of the HVAC systems supplying these areas. Adhesive tape imprints and microscopic examination of the surface materials inside the HVAC could be collected. Pictures can also be taken for details or confirmation purposes.
  3. Testing for general indoor parameters such as temperature, relative humidity, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and total volatile organic compounds.
  4. Air-O-Cell samples will be collected in order to ascertain levels of airborne particles such as mold/fungal elements and spores, opaque particles, skin cell fragments, dust and fibers.
  5. Mold testing will be performed to test for the presence of airborne microorganisms.
  6. Any chemical agents, identified during the preliminary information gathering, will be sampled.
  7. In all of the above tests, air samples will be collected not only from the area of concern, but also from non-complaint area and/or from outdoors, for comparison purposes.
  8. Preparation of a written report of our findings and reco
mmendations for corrective actions where problems have been identified.
  9. Expert Witness or litigation support of the situations requires legal action.

PHASE II - IN DEPTH INVESTIGATION
Where situations cannot be resolved by a Phase I evaluation, and the extent of the problem is greater than anticipated, or more testing and evaluation is necessary; a Phase II Investigation would be performed. Each situation is unique, but the following are some of the tests that could be performed.

  1. More extensive examination of the interior of the HVAC System including opening ductwork and test for molds, bacteria or chemicals.
  2. Continuous monitoring of basic air quality parameters (CO2, CO, Temp. RH) - 24 hrs/day for up to 14 days.
  3. Testing and analysis of airborne bacteria/fungi (Bioaerosols), Mycotoxins or Endotoxins. |
  4. Microscopic assays - Air-O-Cells and Transparent Tape Imprints for mold mold, bacteria, fibers, dander, or pollen.
  5. Particulate assays - microscopic identification of fibers, pollens, fungi, or asbestos.
  6. Chemical assays - Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's), specific chemicals and identification of unknowns.
  7. Indoor allergens - dust mites, cat and dog dander, cockroach allergens, endotoxins.

PHASE III REMEDIATION
Once problems have been identified, we can participate in corrective measures. Using our internal staff or affiliate organizations and sub-contractors, we can perform the necessary corrective measures or recommend reputable contractors. This includes:

  1. Specifications/Plans for Remediation
  2. Mold Remediations, Bacterial Decontamination using State of the Art control methods.
  3. Oversight and project management of abatement or remediation.
  4. Final air sampling, mold or bacteria sampling, chemical analysis to insure clean-up was complete.

PHASE IV – EXPERT SERVICE
Please contact us to discuss your specific clean-up needs or allow us to perform the Phase I or Phase II investigations, Phase III Remediations or Phase IV Medical and Expert Service. We can provide specific clean-up actions, prices, methods and references. If you are interested in more details, price quotes, or to discuss specific needs, contact Robert Sheriff or Dr. Henry P.
